Running in the Dark

Sunday's laziness almost spilled over into Monday. The rain we had alllllll day didn't help either. Le sigh, it was hard to be motivated...

It was the perfect mixture of knowing I had to run, Kenda's face when she wanted to go do something, and the fact that Alex was willing to go with me that got me up, dressed, and out the door. It was close to 8 by the time we got started. I wanted to get 30 minutes in. It was getting dark when we first started and the light quickly left, leaving us running in the dark. People are not supposed to be on the Monon Trail in the dark, so we set off down Broad Ripple Ave to run on some side streets. This was a nice change of scenery, but the sidewalks were uneven, causing me to run the entire 30 minutes "high knees" style. I slipped in some mud once, but caught myself. The uneven pavement, slick, wet leaves, and the mud spots slowed the pace. We got 3.5 in 30:19. It was a run, it is miles for the week. Kenda did good :)

3-4 miles feels like a short distance now. I feel like I am capable of running so much farther when I finish with one of these shorter runs.

Hopefully there will be a nice turnout to my group run after work tomorrow...planning on at least 7 miles.
