Recently, say the past month or so, I started reading Runner's World magazine. I feel like I will get a jump start on all the news/details I need to know to really "fit in" to this so called runner's world I am trying to join. Ironic, eh? Anyhoo, every single issue that I have read contained the question: "What if I skip a week of training - will that ruin my training?" And everytime I read this I thought to myself: "I will never do that."
I did it. An entire week without a single run. I didn't mean to, it just happened. I biked 19 miles one day, which is my only saving grace for the week. How do I feel? Exactly like all the people that write in to Runner's World - like it will ruin my training...
So, I'm back to the grind this evening with 6 miles under my belt. I ran them quick and felt decent. I felt a little off, like my body/legs/breathing/stride weren't in sync, but with mile 1 completed in 7:40 (my fastest training mile time yet) I think the rest might have done my body good. Maybe the Runner's World experts are right, it won't ruin your training to take off an entire week. Let's hope!
